Reconnecting to nature and ancestors

Roșia Montană Marathon is more than just a sporting event. We invite our runners not only to perform, but also to a gesture of contemplation. Our invitation to runners in Roșia Montană is also one of getting in touch with the special natural beauty of the place and getting to know its millennial history.

Roșia Montană stands out for its spectacular landscapes and unique natural monuments, but also for the special energy offered by the richness of the place.

Running or hiking along the paths of Rosia Montana gives you the opportunity to reconnect with nature, to realize that we are all interconnected and not separate from it, and that all our actions towards it have a boomerang effect.

All the actions we direct towards nature will reflect on us, and aggression of any kind towards nature will inevitably have a boomerang effect.

Thus, the effects of our not-so-nature-friendly behavior have been manifesting for many years now in the form of climate disruption, the sudden change of temperature from cold to hot and hot to cold, the reduction to two seasons, the decline in agricultural productivity and the switch to genetically modified products, the emergence of many viruses that lower the immune system, the expansion of the pharmaceutical industry, etc.

Pachamama Romania, through the organization since 2013 of the Roșia Montană Marathon, the Rights of Nature project and the educational event for personal transformation “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream“, contributes to restoring the harmonious connection between man and nature.

The Rights of Nature is a legislative project that aims to have Nature recognized as a Living Being with legal rights, just like people have.

The Earth is our HOME, a community of interdependent beings that form a single system.

And as Rosia Montana is the place of rebirth of ecological consciousness in Romania, we have created with the help of Eugen Cadaru, lawyer and writer, and Mari Margil, lawyer from the United States, a draft law on the Rights of the Rosia Montana Ecosystem.

With its adoption, the Rosia Montana Ecosystem will be recognized as a living entity with legal rights, such as the right to exist, flourish, regenerate and evolve naturally.

The “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream” symposium is an educational program of personal transformation created by Pachamama Alliance in collaboration with several scientists, university professors, writers, activists and indigenous tribal leaders.

Its purpose is to help people come out of the trance into which they have been induced by society and to create a spiritually fulfilled human presence with sustainable and righteous behavior.

The participants to the symposium are able to connect with that inner part that tells them what their mission is, what their role is in the Great Change. The symposium also gives participants the confidence, the impulse to take action through the self-commitment that everyone is invited to take.

The Roșia Montană Marathon also helps participants to connect with the ancestors of the place  who settled here over 2000 years ago.

The first proof is the Roman Galleries, the longest in Europe, which can be visited on the third day of the event – Sunday, 22 June 2025.

The 5 churches of different rites built in the 19th century are another important part of the site’s cultural and historical heritage. One of the locals will take you on a tour of them on the third day of the event and tell you their specific story.

Come to the Roșia Montană Marathon on 20-22 June 2025 to enjoy connecting to nature, to the special energy offered by the richness of the place, and to the millennial history of Roșia Montană!
