Ambassadors

Constantina Diță

Nicknamed Pușa by her friends, she is one of the most valuable athletes our country has ever produced.

On 17 August 2008, at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, she won the gold medal in the marathon, becoming the only Olympic champion for Romania in this event. On this occasion she entered the record books as the oldest winner of an Olympic marathon in history.

After retiring from competitive activity, she continued being close to the sport that brought her satisfaction and organizes the Bucharest International Half Marathon & 10k by Constantina Diță.

If at the first editions of the Roșia Montană marathon she gave us the start by phone from the USA, at the 2016 edition she was present, ran the 10 km race and she gave the awards to the winners.

Lucian Clinciu

Known in the world of mountain runners also as the Carpathian Man, he is the one who paved the way for mountain running in Romania in the form we know today.

On 14 October 2006 he organised the first edition of the Piatra Craiului Marathon. In 2013 he launched the CarpathianMan project to promote mountain sports, which includes four competitions:

  •  “Postavăru Night” – night ski touring and alpine running race,
  • “Bike 4Mountains” – mountain bike competition,
  • “ULTRA Trail Făgăraș” – mountain running and
  • the traditional “Piatra Craiului Marathon”.

Under his guidance, other mountain competitions in our region have also grown. We thank him for his support year after year.

Ștefan Sălăgean

History teacher and principal at Tureac Secondary School, he is one of the most passionate mountain runners in Romania and winner of the marathon event at the 2016 edition of the Roșia Montană Marathon. Also in 2016 he finished second in the Carpathian Circuit Trophy, being the only one to finish all 11 races in the men’s race.

Mihai Pantiș

He is the only person present year after year at Rosia Montana to run the marathon event. He is an endurance runner, taking part in almost all the trail races in Romania, even crossing the country’s borders and winning the race held on the Great Wall of China. He is one of the few runners to have taken part in a race of over 150 km organised in Italy.

Codrea Gheorghe Silip

He is a very discreet person, but of incredible ambition and determination. Together with Geta Manolache he formed a wonderful team of runners who carried the name Rosia Montana Marathon all over the country. In the last 3 years he has been the most active ambassador, getting involved in the green actions that precede our race, as well as in marking the route. It was a great joy to see him first to the finish line in the marathon event at Rosia in 2017. Our congratulations for all you do, for the example you set for those around you.
